Plant Walk at Deception Pass State Park - Bowman Bay/Rosario Beach

  • Deception Pass State Park (map)

Instructor: Gabe Garms
Cost: $25
A Discover Pass is required for this walk

Come join us on a 3.5 hour plant walk at Deception Pass State Park near Oak Harbor, WA. We'll help you identify seaweeds, trees, plants and shrubs along the trails at Bowman Bay and Rosario Beach. We’ll also teach you which plants are good for food, medicine, tools and attracting wildlife. We'll also look at the relationships that the plants have with the birds, invertebrates and other elements of the natural world.

We’ll meet at the boat launch parking lot at Bowman Bay at 10am. We’ll loop around Lighthouse Point and then make our way to Rosario Beach via the trailhead just past the campground. On Lighthouse Point we’ll learn about seaweeds, camas, grass widow, grindelia, sea plantain, yerba buena, wild onions and so much more. Definitely bring along a camera and notebook because we’ll be learning about quite a few different plants.
