In this three-part class, you will learn about herbs that are easy to grow in your garden that you can also make herbal medicines with. Each class will focus on different plants, skills, and herbal preparations. You will leave with completed herbal products, plant starts, seeds, in-process herbal preparations to be finished at home or the next class, as well as handouts with tips and resources to continue your herbal journey.

June 26th Class: Herbal action basics, garden tour and growing considerations, basic herbal preparations such as tincture, tea, and salve, drying and storing your herbs

August 14th Class: Syrup, oxymel, elixir, herb focus on echinacea, hops, elderberry, tulsi, aronia berry, hops, nettle seeds, hawthorn. Seed saving.

October 30th Class: Decoction, dual extraction, root medicine such as valerian, elecampane, echinacea, fire cider, cedar hydrosol. Plant dividing and propagating, soil building. Herbs for immune support, cottonwood bud wildcrafting ethics and how-to.

All herbs, supplies, containers, and menstruums will be provided. Please bring: Mug for tea, snacks and water as needed, a cutting board and chopping knife, appropriate clothing for being outside, garden gloves if desired, notebook and camera.

Each class takes place on a Saturday, from 10 am - approx. 2 pm, in Bellingham, WA. Class will take place indoors and outdoors, there is nearby street parking available and a restroom inside. This class is geared to those who can safely and legally consume alcohol (some herbal preparations use alcohol), but non-alcoholic accommodations can be made for those under 21 or who do not wish to use alcoholic preparations.
