This weekend we will wild harvest in the wild canyons by my home and then make some fantastic creations back at the campsite. Afternoon swimming in the Methow River is part of the fun!
What we will harvest: saskatoon berries, fireweed, yarrow, and alfalfa.
What we will create: Service berry pancakes and Ivan Chai from the fireweed we harvest.
Second day we will spin wool and do wild dyes! We will go through the whole mordanting and dyeing process of both animal and plant fibers. Plants we will dye with are bitter brush and sage brush we harvested in previous classes. Students will dye hand spun wool( that they have made) Dogbane hemp cordage( that they have made in previous class) . Students will also get to practice spinning their own fibers with a drop spindle.
